Protecting our communities from floodwaters and maintaining critical infrastructure is demanding work that requires resilience, expertise, and a deep sense of duty. The employees we remember here embodied these values. Whether operating pump stations during severe weather, maintaining miles of levees, or supporting the daily administrative operations of the District, their contributions were vital to the well-being of Velasco Drainage District.
Superintendent Joe Williams
Joe Williams began his distinguished career with the Velasco Drainage District in [1988], initially joining the team as the District Welder. Through his strong work ethic, technical expertise, and proven leadership capabilities, he was promoted to General Foreman in [Year]. His continued dedication to maintaining the district’s infrastructure and improving field efficiency led to his advancement to Operations Superintendent in [Year]. Ultimately, his comprehensive knowledge of the organization and commitment to public safety culminated in his promotion to Superintendent, a role in which he directed the highest levels of district operations.
Joe S. Williams, our respected Superintendent, mentor, friend, brother, and father figure, passed on December 2, 2025.
Joe was a leader who inspired those around him with his dedication, integrity, and vision. Throughout his tenure at Velasco Drainage District, he shaped not only the direction of the company, but also the lives and careers of the people who had the privilege of working alongside him. His commitment to excellence and his genuine care for others will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Joe’s leadership, kindness, and wisdom will be remembered always.
